If you need to show a video slideshow in a classroom that has no internet connection, you need to have a file to play on your computer. If you created the video, there is no problem. However, if it is a video you found on the Web you need to download the file to your computer first. Some sites such as blip.tv make it easy, but others do not provide this option. In that case, assuming that the video is legal for you to download, you can try the following procedure:

Copy the URL of the video
Go to Keepvid
Paste the URL in the download box
Click Dowload
You will get two links. One lets you download the video in flash format, the other in mp4 format. The latter format provides higher quality. Right-click the download link you want and choose 'Download Linked File As...' to download.

To play a video in flash or mp4 formats you will need to install software that can play these formats. You can use the VLC Media Player. It is free and besides Flash and mp4 it plays almost any video format on the planet.

Another way

Copy the URL of the video
Go to Zamzar
Click on the Download Video Tab
Paste the URL in the STEP 1 Box
In the STEP 2 Box, scroll to choose a video format your computer can play.
In the STEP 3 Box, add your email address
Click Convert
You will receive an email with a link to your converted file.
